Disclaimer

Through my website you are able to link to other websites which are not under my control. I have no control over the nature, content and availability of those sites. Cookies

A cookie, also known as an HTTP cookie, web cookie, or browser cookie, is usually a small piece of data sent from a website and stored in a user's web browser while a user is browsing a website. When the user browses the same website in the future, the data stored in the cookie can be retrieved by the website to notify the website of the user's previous activity. Cookies were designed to be a reliable mechanism for websites to remember the state of the website or activity the user had taken in the past. This can include clicking particular buttons, logging in, or a record of which pages were visited by the user even months or years ago.

The cookies that will be set from my website are to enable best performance, but are non-intrusive. My website sets NO local tracking cookies. The visitor's geo-location is identified to check if the EU e-privacy Directive is applicable. There are no authentication cookies used as there are no login procedures other than for the external commenting system DISQUS, though commenting as guest is possible. Therefore, visitors will never receive unsolicited advertisements or newsletters.

My website sets a functional cookie to remember the visitor's understanding of the cookies that are used. This is needed to prevent a repeated cookie-notice when returning to my website. It does only store this preference and it does NOT track visitors. After clicking the button that you understand the function of the cookies my website may set, the notice will appear again only when the cookies expire (after 165 days of non-return) or when you remove the cookies yourself from your browser. My website's cookies will not breach any privacy issues though.

A few (third party) social media cookies will be set by other domains, e.g. YouTube and Vimeo. This is to serve the visitor who wants to share information on my website with others via social media.
